Sehwag triple ton, Dravid 10,000 runs

The first test match of the Future cup ended in a tame draw, as both India and South Africa piled on the runs.
The first two days saw South Africa compile 540 runs with Hashim Amla scoring 159. Neil Mackenzie added 94, and the skipper Graeme Smith hit 73.
In reply Varinder Sehwag and Wasim Jaffer got [...]

England seal series win

England have done it. Monty Panersar span Michael Vaughan’s side to their first series win abroad for three years, against THE BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD. Wait…no, hold on cut, cut, I’ll go again.
England have won their first series abroad for three years, with Monty Panesar taking 6 wickets in the final innings. Michael Vaughan’s side made it [...]

Football can learn from cricket

If Steve Bennett is so upset at being questioned on the football field, so enraged at being asked: “What’s going on?” So displeased at such a horrendous display of disrespectful behaviour from Javier Mascherano, that he feels the need to brandish a red card. Maybe he should switch professions, I hear the ICC are always [...]

Darrell Hair returns

The ICC has re-instated Darrell Hair as an umpire on the elite panel, after it was decided he had successfully completed his ‘rehabilitation’.
Hair has not umpired a major game since that fateful day in 2006, where he and fellow umpire Billy Doctrove penalised Pakistan for ball tampering. He has since officiated a few one-day games [...]

Out with the old, in with the new

England secured their first test win in 7 games, in what turned out to be a comfortable win at Basin Reserve. It simultaneously proved Peter Moores and Michael Vaughan right in their decision to drop Matthew Hoggard and Steven Harmison.
England instead called up Stuart Broad and James Anderson. Broad, 21, had only one test start [...]

England fight back

It’s about time Peter Moores and England delivered some kind of performance in test cricket, and they are halfway there. New Zealand were bowled out for less than 200 last night, with James Anderson the star (yes the star), with 5 wickets.
On day one it wasn’t looking as bright. Despite an good first session (80-0), England [...]

Australia knocked off top spot

After a less than impressive triangular series against India and Sri Lanka, Australia have been overtaken as the worlds premier one day side. South Africa are the new number 1, after they completed a (remarkable) 3-0 whitewash of minnows Bangladesh.
Bangladesh were once again let down by their batting display. They were bowled out for 143 [...]

New Zealand vs. England - 1st Test

Round three of England’s tour of New Zealand kicks off tonight in Hamilton. England have failed to win in six test matches, and must be looking to beat an under-strength Kiwi side to end that streak.
The venue is the very same arena where NZ resoundingly thumped England by ten wickets in the one-day series. Seddon [...]
